Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Palma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Palma has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Palma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bubba Jay!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palma drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Palma tries for a kimura but Jay is defending well.
Jay throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Jay is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Palma has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Palma wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jay keeps working.

Palma wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jay, who protects the arm well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jay thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Palma looking for a guillotine here but Jay defends easily.

Palma working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jay manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Palma is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Palma is looking for a kimura but Jay is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Palma to get the leverage.

Palma is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jay!

Jay will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Palma feints and as Jay raises his hands in defense, Palma changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Palma drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jay dives on top into guard.
Jay is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Palma has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jay is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Palma.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Palma wants to control but Jay postures up.
Palma manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jay's best efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jay winds up and cracks Palma with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Palma is staying active underneath Jay, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Palma is controlling Jay's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Palma tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Jay has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jay has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Palma's face.

John Palma overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jay prevents Palma from getting the reversal.
Palma wants to hold on but Jay pushes him away.
Palma is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jay lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Palma tries to reverse the position but Jay maintains control.
Jay lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
A nice elbow there by Jay.
Jay throws some wild stikes that Palma manages to avoid easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bubba Jay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Palma moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jay has worked his arm free - good work by Jay!

Jay is in trouble now - Palma has advanced to mount!

Palma has control of Jay's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jay regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Palma swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jay is now in Palma's guard. A big mistake from Palma there, giving up the dominant position!

Palma is pressing down on Jay's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Palma escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jay postures up.
Palma looking for a sweep. Not yet Palma, not yet.

Palma has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Palma looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jay is one step ahead there.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Palma showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Palma has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
