Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sho Goon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan McKinnon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sho Goon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sho Goon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan McKinnon!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKinnon misses with a wild combination.
McKinnon throws a series of strikes that have Goon backpedaling.
Goon tries for a takedown but McKinnon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

McKinnon rushes Goon and presses him up against the cage.
A knee to the head by McKinnon.
McKinnon using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Goon has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Goon jumps into guard, dragging McKinnon to the mat.

Goon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McKinnon is aware though and is defending well.

Goon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McKinnon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McKinnon wants to stand and escape but instead Goon has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

McKinnon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McKinnon lands in his opponent's guard.

McKinnon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McKinnon wants to stand and escape but instead Goon has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Goon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McKinnon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McKinnon has escaped and now he's on top!

Goon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McKinnon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Goon is looking for a triangle but McKinnon pushes his legs off easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Goon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McKinnon defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's time! Goon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



McKinnon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Goon tries to bench press McKinnon off him but McKinnon keeps the position.

McKinnon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Goon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McKinnon has managed to get both his arms back between Goon's legs - danger averted.

McKinnon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McKinnon rushes Goon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Goon tries for a takedown. No joy.
Goon drops down looking for an ankle pick but McKinnon pulls his leg out and moves away.
Goon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McKinnon defends it nicely.

Goon wants to take the fight to the mat but McKinnon manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

McKinnon tries to land knees in the clinch but Goon avoids the damage to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sho Goon.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Goon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
