The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Piil looking to score a takedown here. Hyldahl is defending well but Piil drives through and ends up in Hyldahl's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Piil wants to control from the top but Hyldahl keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Piil is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hyldahl is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Piil looking to sit in guard and control but Hyldahl gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hyldahl's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Piil is trying to keep Hyldahl in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Franz Piil just wasn't active enough.

Piil shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hyldahl's guard.
Piil pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hyldahl is keeping the position for now.
Piil slips nicely into half guard.
Hyldahl is looking to improve his position.
Piil wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hyldahl keeps working.

Piil is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Piil is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hyldahl is just riding it out for now. Piil eventually gives up the hold.
