Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fred Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jones might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Face in the Sand. Hall has chosen Serial Killa as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Fred Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Hall!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries for a takedown but Hall sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Hall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hall has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Jones steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hall. That one must have hurt.
Jones takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Nice uppercut lands for Hall. That snapped Jones's head back.

We've been hearing reports that Jones has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hall lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jones has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jones and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Hall sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hall connects with a body shot that sends Jones's belly button to the back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hall throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hall, as that shot connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hall moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hall did well to prevent Jones getting side control.

Hall manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jones keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Hall throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jones blocks it with crossed arms.
Hall misses with a punch on the inside.
Jones makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Hall gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Jones has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hall is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jones.

Hall is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jones will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Michael Hall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
