The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Johan Velasquez has been cut.
Oliveira steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Velasquez.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oliveira as he avoids it easily.
Velasquez throws a right and a left that Oliveira avoids nicely.
Velasquez takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

It looks like Fabio Oliveira has been cut.
Velasquez throws a series of punches but Oliveira avoids them all with ease.
Velasquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Oliveira cracks Velasquez with a big right hand and Velasquez goes down!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Oliveira seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Oliveira sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Velasquez's guard.
Velasquez gets full guard.
Oliveira sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Velasquez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Velasquez tries to get out of the position.
Oliveira is pushing down on Velasquez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Velasquez is fighting to maintain full guard but Oliveira has managed to sneak the leg through.
Oliveira drops an elbow to the side of Velasquez's head.

Oliveira lands strikes from half guard.

Velasquez is rocked!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Oh Velasquez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oliveira prevents Velasquez from improving his position.
Velasquez seems to have got his legs back now.
Velasquez wants to control but Oliveira is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Oliveira thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Velasquez's head.

Oliveira looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Velasquez is staying active underneath Oliveira, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Oliveira closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Velasquez to the mat! Velasquez manages to get full guard.

Velasquez wants to sweep here but Oliveira controlling him for the moment.
Oliveira makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oliveira arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Velasquez's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
