PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lukas Ioannou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and StuBob Ovechkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, StuBob Ovechkin!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ioannou fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ovechkin sprawls well initially but Ioannou persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ovechkin is looking to escape.

Ovechkin kicks off Ioannou and gets to his feet.
Ovechkin looks to land a combination but Ioannou avoids it well.
Ioannou tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Ovechkin counters by clinching up.
Ioannou is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ovechkin is defending well.
Ovechkin swings wildly with an uppercut but Ioannou uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ioannou drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ovechkin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ioannou tries a body shot but Ovechkin blocks it.
Ioannou misses with a punch to the body.
Ioannou has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ovechkin after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lukas Ioannou. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ioannou has Ovechkin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ovechkin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ovechkin lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Ioannou has Ovechkin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ioannou pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ovechkin tumbling to the mat - Ioannou dives into Ovechkin's guard.

Ioannou has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ioannou wants to control from the top but Ovechkin keeps moving.

Ioannou had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ovechkin defends it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by StuBob Ovechkin.
Ovechkin slaps away a takedown attempt from Ioannou, before circling back to the center of the mat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ioannou manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ovechkin on his heels. He'll look to pass Ovechkin's guard now, I'm sure.

Ioannou shoots in looking for a takedown but Ovechkin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ioannou's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Ovechkin drops Ioannou with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Ioannou! Ovechkin dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
