PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giorgio Lollo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lollo shoots and misses

and Robinson counters by moving into the clinch.
Robinson has Lollo pressed against the cage, preventing Lollo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Robinson tries to break free but Lollo pushes him back against the cage.

Robinson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Robinson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lollo misses with a series of wild punches.

Lollo lands a right hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Robinson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lollo to the ground. Robinson is now in Lollo's guard.
Lollo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Robinson!
Robinson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Robinson wants to hold on but Lollo pushes him away.
Robinson gets back to half guard.

Lollo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lollo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Lollo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Robinson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Robinson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lollo is trying to defend but Robinson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Robinson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Robinson is pressing down on Lollo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lollo is holding on for now.

Robinson stands up out of the half guard.
Lollo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Robinson.
Robinson is breathing heavily.

Robinson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lollo lands a hook that snaps the head of Robinson backwards.
Lollo is looking to break free of the clinch but Robinson has double underhooks.
Lollo misses with a punch to the body.
Robinson tries to pull guard but Lollo holds him up against the cage and eventually Robinson drops back down to his feet.
Lollo gets through Robinson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Lollo manages to break the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Lollo. Those never looked like landing.
Lollo avoids the head kick by Robinson.
Lollo cracks Robinson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Lollo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lollo!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Robinson slaps away a takedown attempt from Lollo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Robinson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Lollo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Robinson avoids it really well and circles away.
Samuel Robinson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Giorgio Lollo.
Lollo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lollo misses with a series of wild punches.

Robinson drives through and clinches with Lollo against the cage.
Robinson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lollo can't break the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Robinson prevents Lollo from breaking the clinch.
Robinson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Robinson misses with a knee strike.
Lollo is trying to force a seperation but Robinson has the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Giorgio Lollo will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lollo dodges the punch combination from Robinson.
Lollo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Robinson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lollo swivels and escapes.

Robinson instigates a clinch.
Robinson takes a shot to the head.
Lollo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Robinson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Robinson is taking a breather. Lollo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Robinson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Lollo defend it? Robinson steps over the head and cranks it - Lollo is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Robinson!
