Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tyler Durden!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Pupkoff!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Pupkoff. No joy for Durden on that attempt.
Pupkoff throws a nice inside leg kick.
Durden lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pupkoff circles away quickly and effectively.
Durden tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pupkoff manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Durden misses with an uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Durden throws a nice looking combination but Pupkoff bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Durden on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Pupkoff cracks the inside of Durden's front leg.
Durden misses the jab.
Pupkoff ducks under a wild hook from Durden.
Durden takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pupkoff throws a series of punches but Durden avoids them all with ease.
Pupkoff tries to bum rush Durden with a series of wild strikes but Durden uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Durden throws a hook but Pupkoff blocks it.
Durden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pupkoff swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Durden misses with a body shot.
Durden tries to close the distance and clinch but Pupkoff swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pupkoff checks a low kick from Durden.
Durden tries to clinch but Pupkoff moves away
and Pupkoff counters with a one-two to the body.
Pupkoff swats away the attempt to clinch by Durden.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Durden tries to keep at a distance but Pupkoff has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pupkoff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pupkoff fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Pupkoff lands a left and a right that send Durden crashing to the mat, dazed. Pupkoff thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Durden is rocked!
It looks like Tyler Durden has been cut.
Durden is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pupkoff Throws a clean left jab. Pupkoff Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Durden's chin! Durden crumbles to the ground and Pupkoff follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Pupkoff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ivan Pupkoff!

A very excited looking Ivan Pupkoff made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
