PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Primo Vjadenek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peter Simon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Primo Vjadenek!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vjadenek fails to land with a series of punches.

Vjadenek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vjadenek defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Simon.

Vjadenek rushes Simon and presses him up against the cage.
Vjadenek jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Simon walks away with a smile on his face. Vjadenek gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Simon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vjadenek, pushing him back against the cage.
Simon misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Vjadenek.

Vjadenek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Vjadenek shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Simon is trying to defend but Vjadenek finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Simon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Primo Vjadenek hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Vjadenek shoots in but no luck this time.

Vjadenek has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Simon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Simon wants it to stay on the feet.
Simon throws a sloppy head kick and Vjadenek moves out of range easily.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Simon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vjadenek was covering up waiting for the punch and Simon finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Vjadenek has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Simon wants to stand and escape but instead Vjadenek has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
