Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Lombard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burnsy Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns has chosen Point of No Return-Immortal Technique as his entrance music. Steve Lombard has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Burnsy Burns!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice combo by Lombard! Oh, that's hurt him - Burns falls to the canvas and Lombard follows him into side control.


Burns is rocked!


It looks like Burnsy Burns has been cut.
Lombard wants to stand but Burns is controlling his arm.
Burns is still in real trouble! Can Lombard finish him?
Burns seems to have recovered his senses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The crowd cheers as Lombard lands an impressive looking overhand right. Burns doesn't seem phased though.

Lombard steps into range and cracks Burns with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Burns flops backwards and Lombard dives into his guard looking to finish!

Burns is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Burns manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lombard manages to get himself to full guard.
Lombard is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Burns wants to pass the guard but Lombard is keeping the position.

Burns throws a big right hand that misses.

Lombard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lombard tries to get out of the position.
Burns is looking to work some ground and pound but Lombard has wrist control.

Lombard utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Lombard tries to bum rush Burns with a series of wild strikes but Burns uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Burns wants to clinch up but Lombard keeps it at a distance.

Lombard looks to land a combination but Burns avoids it well.

Lombard is pressed up against the cage. Burns has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lombard down to the mat. Lombard avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Burns changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lombard tries to avoid it but Burns manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lombard to the ground. Lombard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lombard creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Burns is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Lombard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burns gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lombard.
Burns is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lombard.
Burns is trying desperately to land a takedown but Lombard is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Burns.
Burns takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lombard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Burns closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Burns lands in his opponent's guard.
Burns tries to free his leg and advance position but Lombard is retaining full guard.
Burns postures up and lands a big shot to Lombard's brow.
Burns wants to pass the guard but Lombard is keeping the position.

Burns postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lombard is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Burns, into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Burns looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lombard stopping the sweep attempt from Burns.
Burns has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Burns working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lombard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lombard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Burns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lombard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Burns shoots in looking for a takedown. Lombard tries to sprawl out of it but Burns keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lombard manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The crowd cheers as Lombard lands an impressive looking overhand right. Burns doesn't seem phased though.
