PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hades Underworld (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dru Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Underworld might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mr. Torture. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Rivers rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Underworld counters with a two punch combo.
Rivers fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Underworld has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rivers shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Hades Underworld seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rivers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Underworld moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Rivers counters with a series of strikes. Underworld will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Rivers finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Rivers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Underworld looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Rivers lands a nice hook to Underworld's body. Underworld takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rivers has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Rivers drops Underworld with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Underworld looks back up at him and smiles so Rivers waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Underworld is rocked!

Hades Underworld's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Underworld checks the leg kick.
Oh Underworld is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Underworld falls off balance throwing a combination

Underworld seems to have got his legs back now.
Rivers throws a low kick but it's checked well by Underworld.

Underworld moves out of range as Rivers throws a body kick.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Underworld might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Rivers tries to land a front kick but Underworld steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Jeez, Hades Underworld's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Rivers lands a really nice looking cross but Underworld seems unphased.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hades Underworld's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
