PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Sobota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tion Seger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Seger's choice of entrance music: Remember the Name. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniel Sobota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tion Seger!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seger throws a left and a right that both miss
and Sobota counters with a nice uppercut.
Tion Seger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Seger misses with a takedown attempt
and Sobota connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Seger circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sobota looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Sobota drives through and clinches with Seger against the cage.
Sobota fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Seger tries for a takedown but Sobota manages to get underhooks.

Sobota has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Seger uses from the top position.

Seger throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Sobota counters with a good low kick that Seger was not able to check.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Seger fails to land with a series of punches.
Seger closes the distance and clinches up with Sobota, looking for a takedown. Seger pushes Sobota against the cage but Sobota circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Daniel Sobota has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tion Seger.

Sobota manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Seger on his heels. He'll look to pass Seger's guard now, I'm sure.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sobota gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Sobota is looking to take this one to the mat.
Seger has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sobota avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sobota escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sobota works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sobota has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sobota drops back, looking for a kneebar! Seger looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Seger looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Seger!
Seger wants to stand but Sobota is controlling his arm.

Seger thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Seger misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Daniel Sobota overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Seger takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Sobota changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Seger looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
