Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miksu Rupunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joonatan Lehkosuo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rupunen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down. Lehkosuo has chosen Metallica - Fuel as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joonatan Lehkosuo!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rupunen throws a head kick that misses.
No luck for Lehkosuo with that takedown attempt.
Rupunen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Rupunen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Lehkosuo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Rupunen is pressing down on Lehkosuo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lehkosuo is holding on for now.
Lehkosuo wants to get back to full guard.
Rupunen is keen to just control but Lehkosuo is a slippery customer.

Rupunen has hold of Lehkosuo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lehkosuo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Lehkosuo wants to hold on but Rupunen pushes him away.

Rupunen lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Rupunen.
Rupunen is not going to allow Lehkosuo to sit and survive in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rupunen lands a shot to the body.

and Rupunen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lehkosuo's guard now.

Rupunen stands and steps away. Lehkosuo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lehkosuo's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Lehkosuo duly obliges.

and Lehkosuo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rupunen!

Lehkosuo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rupunen has worked his arm free - good work by Rupunen!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rupunen is pushing Lehkosuo's head away, looking to escape. Lehkosuo manages to hold on to the position though.

Lehkosuo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rupunen can't do much from the bottom here.

Rupunen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lehkosuo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rupunen gets back to full guard.
Rupunen has Lehkosuo pulled in close to control his posture.

Rupunen pushes Lehkosuo off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Lehkosuo is looking for a triangle here but Rupunen uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Rupunen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lehkosuo has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lehkosuo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Rupunen is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Rupunen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rupunen connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rupunen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lehkosuo looks a forlorn figure.
Rupunen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miksu Rupunen dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lehkosuo shoots and misses

Miksu Rupunen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rupunen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rupunen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rupunen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lehkosuo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Rupunen!
