Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Joaquin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ralph Joaquin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mirko Silva!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joaquin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Joaquin dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Joaquin's head and hops out.

and Silva counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Silva wants to stand but Joaquin has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Joaquin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Silva is standing up over Joaquin. Joaquin looks to escape but Silva dives into side control.

Silva tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Silva wants to stand but Joaquin has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva wanted to stand there but Joaquin had control of the position.

Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Joaquin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Silva misses with the combination.
Joaquin slips a jab and a cross from Silva.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Joaquin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Joaquin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silva is fending him off so far but Joaquin persists. Nope, Silva circles away and we're back to standing.
Silva throws a nice looking combination but Joaquin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

No joy there for Silva, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Joaquin shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Silva misses with a double jab.
Joaquin dodges the punch combination from Silva.
Silva throws a series of punches but Joaquin avoids them all with ease.
Ralph Joaquin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva lands with a shot to the body.
Joaquin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silva sprawls well. Silva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Joaquin gets slowly back to his feet.

Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Joaquin circles away quickly and effectively.

Silva is trying to stand back up but Joaquin is controlling him

Joaquin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Joaquin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silva doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Joaquin.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ralph Joaquin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Joaquin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Joaquin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Joaquin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Joaquin is having none of it.
