The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales thuds his right hand into Deathgrip's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Gonzales misses with a hook

and Deathgrip counters by clinching up.

Deathgrip has clasped his hands together around Gonzales's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gonzales is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Deathgrip trying to control the position but Gonzales is working away.

Deathgrip tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Deathgrip in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Deathgrip is trying to get an arm triangle but Gonzales is defending well.

Deathgrip misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Gonzales's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Deathgrip tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deathgrip works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Gonzales parries the strikes from Deathgrip easily there. Deathgrip is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gonzales to escape.
Gonzales wants to control but Deathgrip postures up.

Deathgrip is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gonzales looks calm but he's in trouble here. Deathgrip gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gonzales is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Deathgrip lets go of the hold and Gonzales can pop his arm back in it's socket.
