Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Chandler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yio Yaj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chandler comes to the cage accompanied by Silverchair - Tomorrow. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerry Chandler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yio Yaj!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chandler lands with a straight right. Yaj didn't see that one coming.
A nice leg kick lands there from Chandler.
Yaj connects with a good right hand that stumbles Chandler. Chandler circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Yaj throws a big shot that misses.
Yaj throws a jab when Chandler was well out of range.
Yaj wants to clinch up but Chandler keeps it at a distance.
Yaj misses with a takedown attempt - Chandler sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chandler swats away the attempt to clinch by Yaj.
Chandler fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Yaj checks it well.
Chandler throws a front kick aimed at Yaj's knee but Yaj avoids it well.
A combination from Chandler does no damage.
Yaj tries for a takedown but Chandler sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A bone on bone clash there as Yaj blocks the leg kick.
Yaj lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chandler circles away quickly and effectively.

Yaj has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Yaj there as he acknowledges the shot.
Yaj misses with an uppercut. Chandler saw that one coming.
Yaj on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Yaj closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Yaj is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Chandler kicks off Yaj and gets to his feet.

Chandler seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Yaj wants to control from the top but Chandler keeps moving.

A looping hook to the body misses from Yaj. Chandler does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chandler throws a front kick that sends Yaj stumbling back into the cage.
Yaj tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Chandler shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Yaj tries to clinch up but Chandler circles away and keeps his distance.

Chandler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yaj takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yaj ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gerry Chandler will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Yio Yaj seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yaj shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chandler is trying to defend but Yaj finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Yaj really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chandler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Yaj cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
