The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kotipelto chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before David can pounce on him.
Kotipelto looks to score with a jab to the body but David is just out of range.

David fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kotipelto checks it well.
Kotipelto thuds his shin into the meat of David's side.

Kotipelto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kotipelto looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

David is staying active underneath Kotipelto, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

David is defending against the submission attempts here by Kotipelto.

Kotipelto wants to work for an arm triangle but David is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
