PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ian Langley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaiah Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Langley comes into the arena with inner ninja - Classified ft David Myles blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ian Langley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Isaiah Ferguson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Langley gets caught napping as Ferguson dives in and scores a takedown. Langley manages to retain guard.
Langley pulls Ferguson in close to prevent any damage.
Ferguson trying to control but Langley is working from the bottom.
Langley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ferguson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ferguson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Langley manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ferguson on his heels. He'll look to pass Ferguson's guard now, I'm sure.
Langley lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Ferguson wants to get back to his feet but Langley passes into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ferguson trying to hold on to Langley's head to control him but Langley postures up.

Langley is nestled in close to Ferguson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ferguson is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Langley is controlling the pace.
Langley is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Ferguson wants to control but Langley passes into side.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Langley connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ferguson some visible discomfort.

Ferguson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Langley scores with punches from side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ferguson is looking to regain half guard here but Langley keeps moving and retains side control.
Langley in side control lands a decent elbow.

Langley cracks Ferguson with a big right hand but Ferguson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Ferguson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Langley presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Langley scoring with strikes but Ferguson is staying in there.
Langley wants to control the pace but Ferguson is squirming around nicely.
Langley scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Ferguson?


Ferguson is rocked!


It looks like Isaiah Ferguson has been cut.
Langley loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Ferguson scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Langley land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Langley stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ian Langley!
Ian Langley was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
