PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shazaam McDaniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Garrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDaniels comes to the cage accompanied by Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shazaam McDaniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Garrick!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garrick gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McDaniels decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Garrick's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Garrick is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDaniels is looking to stand up but Garrick won't let him.

Garrick is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McDaniels is aware though and is defending well.

McDaniels gets to his feet. Garrick looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Garrick with a poor takedown

and McDaniels counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Garrick!

Garrick is rocked!
McDaniels will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McDaniels decides to stand up, so the ref orders Garrick to his feet.
Garrick is still on wobbly legs! Can McDaniels finish him?
Garrick shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McDaniels counters with a double leg. Garrick bangs his head on the mat and seems to be on queer street here... McDaniels follows up with punches and the ref steps in to end the fight! It was the slam that caused all the problems.
