Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darrell Wylde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darrell Wylde!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Wylde on that attempt.

Smith gets a double leg takedown into Wylde's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Smith showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Smith has gone for a leg lock! Wylde slips out almost immediately though and dives into Smith's guard.
Wylde trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith is adopting a defensive guard.
Smith trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith is controlling Wylde's posture.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Smith clinches with his opponent.
Smith tries to throw a body punch but Wylde avoids it by throwing Smith back against the cage.
Wylde has Smith pressed against the cage.
Wylde fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Wylde manages to break the clinch.
Smith looks for a takedown but Wylde sprawls well.

Wylde closes the distance and clinches.

Wylde prevents a body shot from Smith.
Wylde trying to land knees to the body.
Smith is looking to control Wylde's arms but Wylde gets an underhook and turns him. Now Smith has his back to the cage.
Wylde keeps control of Smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Wylde manages to break the clinch.
Wylde shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Paul Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darrell Wylde.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Wylde which made him look bad.
Wylde shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wylde closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Wylde pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wylde shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wylde throws a body kick that misses.

Some bone on bone action there as Wylde checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wylde is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smith pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Smith throws a series of punches but Wylde avoids them all with ease.
Wylde throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Good work by Wylde as he checks the leg kick.
Smith tries to clinch up but Wylde circles away and keeps his distance.
Smith moves to clinch but Wylde breaks away
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Nice sprawl there from Smith as Wylde shoots in.

Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wylde napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Wylde is defending well.
Smith misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Smith wants to control but Wylde is keeping him busy.
Smith moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith trying to control the action but Wylde is working from the bottom.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wylde shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Wylde tries to keep at a distance but Smith has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wylde drags the fight down to the ground.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Wylde is keeping the position.
Wylde looking to control but Smith passes into half guard.
Smith lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Smith wants to pass to mount but Wylde is defending the position.
Wylde is trying to stand.
Wylde wants to control but Smith is keeping busy.
Wylde is doing well to control the position and prevent Smith from advancing to side control.
Smith content to control rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Paul Smith just wasn't active enough.
Wylde fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wylde sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
Wylde shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wylde blocks a head kick by Smith.

Smith moves into the clinch.
Wylde prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wylde tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smith smiles and moves away.

Smith clinches with his opponent.

Smith has hold of one of Wylde's legs. Wylde is fighting the takedown attempt but Smith gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Wylde looking to control but Smith passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wylde is looking to improve his position.
Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith stops Wylde from getting back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Smith wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Wylde wants to clinch.
Wylde throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wylde wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.

Wylde can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Smith controls the pace.

Wylde escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Wylde is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wylde is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Smith passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Smith blocks the strikes from Wylde.
Wylde is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Well, if Smith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Paul Smith has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Smith wants to clinch up but Wylde keeps it at a distance.
Wylde moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Wylde tries to clinch up.
Smith tries to clinch up.
Wylde shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.

Wylde moves into the clinch.
Wylde wants a takedown but no success here.
Wylde can't break the clinch.
Smith has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wylde after a bit of a struggle.

Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wylde pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wylde breaks from the clinch.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Wylde shoots in but no luck this time.
Paul Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darrell Wylde.
Smith goes for a double leg but Wylde avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wylde continues to drive forward.
Wylde wants to take the fight to the mat but Smith manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wylde is trying to pull guard but Smith turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Wylde unloads a knee to the mid-section. Smith lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Darrell Wylde has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paul Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Wylde misses with an elbow strike.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paul Smith.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
