PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between bryce ahr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick McGowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that bryce ahr has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily bryce ahr seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ahr tries to clinch but McGowen is having none of it.
McGowen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has ahr pinned against the cage. ahr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A nice leg kick lands there from McGowen.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McGowen!
ahr tries to clinch up but McGowen circles away and keeps his distance.

ahr stands and steps away. McGowen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

McGowen flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGowen is trying to stand up here but ahr is controlling him well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

McGowen lands with a nice combination. ahr backs away looking to recover.
McGowen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to ahr's calf.

McGowen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. ahr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McGowen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McGowen distracts ahr with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

McGowen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
McGowen throws a nice inside leg kick.

and ahr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGowen's guard.
bryce ahr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick McGowen.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McGowen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

McGowen is trying to control the action in half guard but ahr is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
McGowen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

McGowen with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
McGowen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. ahr looks a forlorn figure.

McGowen has control of ahr's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and ahr regains control of the situation pretty easily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McGowen wants to lay and pray for a moment but ahr keeps working.

Well McGowen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
