PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Teller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bailey Vaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Teller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bailey Vaughan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teller doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Vaughan counters with a leg kick.
Teller shoots and misses
and Vaughan counters with a nice uppercut.
Teller slips a straight right by Vaughan.
Teller with a lazy takedown attempt
and Vaughan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Teller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Teller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Vaughan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Teller shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Jack Teller has been cut.

Teller is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Teller doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Vaughan counters with a left to the body.
Vaughan throws a looping overhand right but Teller ducks down to avoid it.
Teller fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vaughan avoids it really well and circles away.

and Vaughan counters with a stiff right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Vaughan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Vaughan misses with a hook.
Teller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vaughan sprawls well. Vaughan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Teller gets slowly back to his feet.
Vaughan is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Teller slips a jab and a cross from Vaughan.
Teller darts in looking for a takedown but Vaughan gets double underhooks and turns Teller into the cage.
Vaughan looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Vaughan has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Teller tries to score a body lock takedown but Vaughan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Vaughan pulls guard successfully.
Teller controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Teller tries to free his leg and advance position but Vaughan is retaining full guard.
Teller trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vaughan is looking to stand back up but Teller counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vaughan.
Teller wants to take a breather but Vaughan is having none of it.
Teller is controlling the pace.

Vaughan is defending against the submission attempts here by Teller.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Teller keeps the fight on the outside.
Bailey Vaughan seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Teller looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Teller tries for a takedown but Vaughan circles away easily
and Vaughan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vaughan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Teller shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Vaughan counters with a two punch combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Teller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Teller gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Teller is countered with a crisp right hand from Vaughan that sends him to the canvas! Vaughan follows him to the mat into side control.


Teller is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Teller can't do much from the bottom here.
Vaughan tries to stand but Teller is controlling his head.

Teller is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaughan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Vaughan tries to get to his feet but Teller is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Vaughan in his guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Vaughan working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Teller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bailey Vaughan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Teller blocks a jab.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Teller tries for a takedown but Vaughan circles away easily
and Vaughan counters with a nice uppercut.
A jab from Vaughan finds it's way through Teller's defenses.

Teller stops Vaughan from standing up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Teller slips nicely into half guard.

Vaughan is defending against the submission attempts here by Teller.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bailey Vaughan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Teller throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vaughan was covering up waiting for the punch and Teller finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Teller's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Teller tries to free his leg and advance position but Vaughan is retaining full guard.

Teller trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vaughan wants to stand up but Teller is controlling him.
Teller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jack Teller just wasn't active enough.
Vaughan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Teller manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vaughan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Vaughan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Teller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vaughan tries to avoid it but Teller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vaughan to the ground. Vaughan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Teller walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Teller is trying hard to land a takedown here. Vaughan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Bailey Vaughan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vaughan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bailey Vaughan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Vaughan punishes Teller's body with a nice straight punch.

Vaughan throws a right and a left that Teller avoids nicely.
Vaughan throws a series of punches but Teller moves out of range.
Vaughan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Teller has time to react.
Teller doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Vaughan counter with a right hand.

During a confident post fight interview, Bailey Vaughan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
