The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andrew tries to work over Hartley's front leg with a kick but Hartley checks it.
Andrew takes a swing at Hartley's ribcage but misses.
Andrew loads up on a big right hand but Hartley slips the punch.
Andrew swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Hartley counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Andrew keeping moving, preventing Hartley from controlling successfully.
Hartley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hartley throws an elbow that misses. Andrew uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hartley's guard. Nice move by Andrew!
Hartley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Andrew is one step ahead there.
Hartley keeps trying to improve his position.
Hartley wants to stand but Andrew is controlling the position.

Andrew throws a strike but Hartley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hartley seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hartley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We've been told by Andrew's head coaches at Renegade Fighting Systems that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hartley takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Andrew throws a hook but Hartley avoids it easily.

Hartley throws a strike aimed at the side of Andrew's head but Andrew avoids it well.

Andrew is staying active underneath Hartley, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hartley has control of Andrew's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Andrew regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hartley lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Andrew wants to hold on but Hartley pushes him away.
