PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derek Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Kaut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaut closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.
Kaut sitting in guard here, content to control.
Kaut passes into half guard.
Jackson is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kaut not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jackson pushes Kaut off looking to stand but Kaut dives back in and keeps control.

Kaut seems to be looking for submissions.
Jackson is trying to stand back up but Kaut is controlling him
Kaut drops an elbow to the side of Jackson's head.
Kaut looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jackson is trying to stand up here but Kaut is controlling him well.

Kaut is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kaut looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jackson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.

Kaut sitting and controlling from the half guard.
It looks like Kaut might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Kaut has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jackson tries to bum rush Kaut with a series of wild strikes but Kaut uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Derek Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Kaut. Kaut gets slowly back to his feet.

Jackson digs a right hand into Kaut's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kaut's gas tank.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Kaut jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jackson walks away with a smile on his face. Kaut gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kaut tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.
Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kaut thows a body shot but no joy.

Kaut throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jackson was covering up waiting for the punch and Kaut finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jackson wants to stand and escape but Kaut is having none of it.
Kaut makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Kaut sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackson's guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kaut connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.

Jackson is looking to escape.
Kaut lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jackson wants to stand back up but Kaut manages to pass into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee asks Kaut politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kaut prefers to stall for the moment though.
Kaut is chipping away with strikes.

Kaut tries for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Kaut decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kaut looking to score a takedown here. Jackson is defending well but Kaut drives through and ends up in Jackson's guard.

Kaut stands up from Jackson's guard - Kaut perhaps looking for a knockout.
Kaut shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but Kaut keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kaut drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jackson is not content to let Kaut control the position.

Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kaut decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jackson to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ian Kaut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kaut has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
