PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monty Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Give Life back to Music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Monty Carlo!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moore closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carlo quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Moore working Carlo over with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlo is not content to let Moore control the position.
Moore sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Carlo defending well though.

Moore looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Carlo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carlo is trying to maintain the position but Moore is very close to passing his half guard.
Moore tries to stand but can't do so whilst Carlo controls his leg.
Moore throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Moore wants to free his trapped foot but Carlo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Carlo is staying active underneath Moore, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Moore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moore thows a huge punch but Carlo dodges it nicely.
Moore thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carlo's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore is thwarting Carlo's attempts to control the position.
Carlo holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Moore wants to control but Carlo is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Moore throws a right and a left that Carlo avoids nicely.
Moore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Carlo fails with the takedown.
Carlo has a takedown stuffed.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carlo is defended easily by Moore.
Andrew Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Monty Carlo.

Moore closes the distance and pushes Carlo back into the cage.
Moore tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore is trying to force a seperation but Carlo has the dominant position.

Moore breaks from the clinch.
Carlo misses with a takedown
and Moore counters with a big head kick but Carlo shrugs it off.

Moore looking to score a takedown here. Carlo is defending well but Moore drives through and ends up in Carlo's guard.
Moore postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moore throws a strike but Carlo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Carlo trying to control but Moore is working from the bottom.
Moore wants to control but Carlo passes easily into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moore trying to control from the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carlo working the head and body with strikes.
Carlo moves into full mount! Moore won't be happy about that!
Carlo with a couple of short strikes.
Moore is wriggling around trying to escape.
Moore is breathing heavily.
Moore is working hard here to advance position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carlo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Moore is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Moore dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Carlo looking to score a takedown here. Moore is defending well but Carlo drives through and ends up in Moore's guard.
Moore working a defensive guard here.
Carlo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Carlo passes Moore's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Carlo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Moore is looking to control Carlo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moore avoid being mounted?
Carlo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Moore tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carlo raining down shots from the mount!
Carlo with a couple of short strikes.
The referee warns Moore that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Carlo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Moore to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Moore shrugs it off.
Moore really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carlo lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Moore hang on?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Moore is in all sorts of trouble here.
Moore is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Carlo is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Moore is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Moore flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Carlo anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Moore and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Carlo slips an arm under Moore chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Carlo has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Carlo is squeezing on Moore like an anaconda would it's prey. Moore fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Monty Carlo!
During a confident post fight interview, Monty Carlo thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
