PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ozzaka San (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaac Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). San comes to the cage accompanied by I stand alone.. Martin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ain't That A Kick In The Head. Isaac Martin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ozzaka San!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Isaac Martin!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

San shoots in and bounces Martin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
San postures up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Martin holds on and takes a little breather.
San wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving.

San got a little sloppy there for a moment and Martin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, San has managed to get both his arms back between Martin's legs - danger averted.
San prevents Martin from getting back to his feet.
San wanted to stand there but Martin had control of the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Ozzaka San wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
San misses with a leg kick.

San gets caught napping as Martin dives in and scores a takedown. San manages to retain guard.

San will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Martin pushes down on San's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Martin seems to be working for a kimura but San defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

San wants to improve his position but Martin is controlling well.
Martin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Martin decides to stand and escape the position.

San is looking for a sweep. Martin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

San is staying active underneath Martin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

San is refusing to be controlled, as Martin sits in half guard.

Martin slips a nice elbow through San's hands, connecting with San's forehead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Martin throws a right and a left that San avoids nicely.
Ozzaka San is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Martin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging San to the ground. Martin is now in San's guard.
Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with San. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Martin moves into the clinch successfully.

San decides to pull guard.
Martin lands a couple of digs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Martin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Martin tries to stand but San is controlling from the bottom.
San really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. San swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Isaac Martin has got the better of the ground game so far.
San not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Isaac Martin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Martin gets tackled into the cage by San. San maintains the clinch.

San wants to stand but Martin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Martin is looking to stand up but San isn't so interested in that idea.
San passes Martin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Martin tries to roll over but San keeps him under control.

Martin has a hand on San's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. San takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

San avoids the attempt from Martin to control.

San goes for an armbar but Martin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Martin.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from San.

A short body shot lands from Martin as the two fighters clinch.
Martin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. San fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Martin stands up over San, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Martin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! San is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Martin, into his guard.
San stands and throws Martin's legs to the side, diving into side control.

San wants to stand but Martin is controlling his arm.
Martin gets back to half guard.

San is pressing down on Martin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Martin is holding on for now.

San is looking for a kimura here.
Martin wants to control but San is keeping busy.

Martin pushes San off looking to stand but San dives back in and keeps control.
San wants to stand up but Martin is controlling the position.
San trying to pass the guard but Martin defending well.
Isaac Martin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Martin is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Isaac Martin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Martin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Isaac Martin was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Ozzaka San stepped up to the mic, saying 'F..... me!!!'.
