PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Inti Raimi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Buffet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buffet has chosen Margaritaville as his entrance music. Inti Raimi had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 207.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. On his way into the cage it seems that Inti Raimi has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Inti Raimi seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raimi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Raimi fails with the takedown.
Buffet scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Buffet throws the left hand but Raimi avoids the punch easily.
Buffet has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Raimi is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Buffet keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Buffet has closed the distance and engaged Raimi in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Buffet scores with a nice short uppercut.

Buffet breaks the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Buffet fails to land with a series of punches.
A lazy left from Buffet finds it's target.
Raimi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Raimi is defended easily by Buffet.
Raimi on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Raimi throws a series of punches but Buffet moves out of range.
Raimi throws a head kick that misses.
Raimi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Buffet has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
A chopping leg kick lands by Buffet.

A clash of legs there as Buffet blocks the low kick.
Horrible takedown by Raimi or perhaps it was just good defense by Buffet which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Inti Raimi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Buffet needs to keep his hands up - Raimi had a free shot at his head there.
Raimi avoids the body shot from Buffet.
Buffet misses with a two punch combination.
Raimi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Buffet connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Raimi avoids the head kick by Buffet.
Raimi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Raimi misses with a looping right.
Buffet throws a push kick but Raimi slaps the foot to one side.
Buffet throws a body kick that misses.
No joy there for Raimi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Buffet connects with a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Raimi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Buffet.
Raimi shoots in for a takedown but Buffet shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Raimi connects with a high kick.
Raimi fails to land with a series of punches.
Raimi is breathing heavily.

A head kick by Raimi misses
and Raimi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Raimi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Raimi. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Buffet cracks Raimi with a right hand to the side of the head.

Raimi is rocked!
Buffet lands with a thumping leg kick.

Buffet throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Raimi tumbling to the canvas!
Oh Raimi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Buffet wants to control from the top but Raimi keeps moving.

Buffet drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Buffet jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Buffet pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Raimi is keeping the position for now.

Buffet drops back looking for a leg! Raimi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Raimi manages to kick Buffet off! Buffet jumps back into Raimi's guard.
Raimi seems to have got his legs back now.
Buffet looking to sit in guard and control but Raimi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Buffet is trying to keep Raimi in close.

Raimi won't allow Buffet to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Raimi tries to free his leg and advance position but Buffet is retaining full guard.

Raimi is posturing up here but Buffet has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Raimi tries to roll out but it's too tight and Raimi has to tap! Slick submission there by Buffet!
