PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aggravated Battery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Battery comes to the cage accompanied by Wife Beater. Jose Hernandez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez tries a low kick but Battery avoids it.
Hernandez stalks Battery and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Battery's face. Battery staggers backwards, shaken.
Battery on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hernandez. Hernandez obviously looking to wear him down.

Battery drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Battery moves into full mount!

Battery jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hernandez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hernandez and Battery has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Battery goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hernandez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Battery but great work by Hernandez.

Battery has his foot on Hernandez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hernandez works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Battery looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hernandez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Battery is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Battery wants to work for an arm triangle but Hernandez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Battery is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hernandez has managed to free his arm - good work.

Battery is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Battery is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Hernandez as he works his way to full guard.
Hernandez can't keep his opponent in guard - Battery advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Battery is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hernandez is just riding it out for now. Battery eventually gives up the hold.
Battery works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hernandez has given up his back. Will we see Battery going for some submissions?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Battery throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hernandez's waist but Hernandez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Battery off to one side.
Hernandez scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Hernandez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hernandez lands in his opponent's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Battery is on top in guard.

Battery thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Battery is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hernandez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hernandez has escaped and now he's on top!
Battery is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hernandez can do to turn this around?

Battery has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Battery has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hernandez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Battery has tightened it up now! Hernandez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
