The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severence misses with a two punch combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Severence looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Severence fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Severence persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Williams is not content to let Severence control the position.
Williams gets back to full guard.
Severence tries to free his leg and advance position but Williams is retaining full guard.

Severence decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Williams stuffs the takedown attempt from Severence. Severence gets slowly back to his feet.

Severence scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Williams tries to roll over but Severence keeps him under control.

Williams manages to get to full guard.
Severence might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Severence stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Severence drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Severence jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Williams wants to sweep here but Severence controlling him for the moment.
Severence could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Williams looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Williams swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Severence is now in Williams's guard. A big mistake from Williams there, giving up the dominant position!
Severence passes Williams's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Williams wants to improve his position but Severence is controlling well.
Williams is staying active underneath Severence, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Williams wants to get back to full guard.
Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams.

Severence is sitting in close to Williams's body. Williams has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Severence is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Severence is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Williams.
