PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Materaazzi Motta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stuart Fincham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Motta has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Materaazzi Motta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stuart Fincham!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fincham gets a clinch.

Fincham ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fincham no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fincham is adopting a defensive guard.
Motta is breathing heavily.
Fincham manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Motta manages to get himself to full guard.
Fincham not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Stuart Fincham wasn't active enough on the ground.

Fincham closes the distance and clinches.

Fincham drags the fight down to the ground.
Fincham is pulling down on Motta's head to control his posture.
Fincham is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Materaazzi Motta.
Motta gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Fincham.

Fincham fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Motta to the ground. Fincham is now in Motta's guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Materaazzi Motta wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Fincham closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Motta quickly recovers to half guard.

Fincham is working for a kimura but Motta is defending it quite comfortably.

Fincham jumps guard and drags Motta to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Materaazzi Motta just wasn't active enough.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fincham accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Materaazzi Motta is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fincham avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Fincham shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Motta is trying to defend but Fincham finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Stuart Fincham showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fincham has control of Motta's left arm, preventing Motta from doing any damage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Motta tries to bum rush Fincham with a series of wild strikes but Fincham uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Fincham rushes Motta and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Fincham throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fincham has his foot on Motta's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Motta works his way back into a safe position though.

Fincham throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Motta tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fincham is in Motta's guard.

Motta is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fincham is controlling him.
Fincham must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well Fincham has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
