The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson avoids the body shot from Goodman.

Goodman moves into the clinch.
Johnson tries to land a knee to the head but Goodman blocks with his arms.
Goodman looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Goodman is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Johnson is defending well.
Goodman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Johnson lands a good knee to the midsection. Goodman won't want to take too many of those.
Goodman is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Johnson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kane Johnson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Goodman misses with a few strikes there.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Goodman against the cage.
Goodman wants a takedown.

Johnson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Goodman's efforts to push away.

Goodman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Goodman.

Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Goodman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Johnson wants to stand but Goodman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Goodman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Goodman!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Goodman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Johnson dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson chips away with some ground and pound.
Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Goodman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Goodman!

Goodman prevents Johnson from getting back to his feet.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Johnson holds on and takes a little breather.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Goodman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Johnson connects with a knee to the head.
Johnson looking to throw knees to the head but Goodman is blocking nicely.
Goodman tries to circle away but Johnson has him pinned against the cage.
Goodman is trying to push Johnson away but Johnson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Johnson breaks the clinch.
Goodman looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range.
Goodman misses with an uppercut. Johnson saw that one coming.
Goodman loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
Goodman misses with a straight left.

Goodman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.
Johnson is defending well against a takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Goodman smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Kane Johnson has been cut.

Johnson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kane Johnson dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Goodman avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Johnson.

Johnson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Johnson prevents Goodman from getting back to his feet.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goodman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Goodman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson!
Goodman lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Johnson hang on?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Goodman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Johnson is surviving well by controlling Goodman's body position as best he can.
Johnson is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson tries to lock up and control but Goodman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Goodman has control of Johnson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Johnson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Johnson takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Goodman's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
