Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eduardo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Knowshon Zavier!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Zavier.
Santos is looking to land body kicks.
Santos closes the distance but Zavier moves to the side
and Zavier counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Zavier cracks Santos with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Zavier moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Santos throws a jab but it's blocked by Zavier.
Santos tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Santos misses with a looping right.
Eduardo Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Zavier counters with a thumping low kick.
Zavier darts in and clinches Santos up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zavier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Santos tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Zavier counters with a good low kick that Santos was not able to check.
Zavier circles away from the clinch attempt
and Zavier counters with a solid body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zavier throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Zavier feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Santoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Santos throws a solid leg kick but Zavier takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Santos.
Zavier avoids the head kick by Santos.
Santos waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Zavier.
Zavier feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Santos sprawling to the canvas! Santos rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Zavier finish him?!
Santos is rocked!
It looks like Eduardo Santos has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santos tries to clinch up
and Zavier counters with a nice body kick.
Oh Santos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Santos is breathing heavily.
Santos wants to clinch but Zavier slips to the side
and Zavier counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Santos seems to have got his legs back now.
Santos can't break the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Zavier creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Santos's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Zavier lands a right hand.
Zavier lands with a short shot to the head.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Zavier.
Zavier lands a body shot in the clinch.
Zavier breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos throws the kick towards the body but Zavier avoids it.
Santos misses with a hook.
Santos tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Zavier scores with a counter punch that sends Santos to the canvas! Zavier smells blood - he's punishing Santos with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Santos has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Knowshon Zavier!
