PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doe comes to the cage accompanied by F...k off!!!!. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Owen Castle!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe looks to land a combination. Castle sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Doe gets a double leg takedown into Castle's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Castle tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Doe wants to stand and escape but instead Castle has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Doe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Castle postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Doe is looking to stand up but Castle isn't so interested in that idea.
Doe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Castle passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Doe is trying to maintain the position but Castle is very close to passing his half guard.
Castle should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Doe keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Castle controlling the action here.
Castle is pressing down on Doe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Doe is holding on for now.
Castle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Castle shoots in looking for a takedown. Doe tries to sprawl out of it but Castle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Doe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Castle fails with the takedown.

Castle drives through with a takedown into Doe's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Castle wants to control from the top but Doe keeps moving.
Castle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Doe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Castle is one step ahead there.
Doe is breathing heavily.
Castle pushes down on Doe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Doe is trying to get back to full guard.

Castle is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Castle looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Castle is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Castle is working for a submission of some sort.
Castle stalling away here and it's allowed Doe to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doe controls Castle momentarily but Castle frees himself.
Castle trying to control but Doe is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Castle with a flurry of punches that miss.
Doe is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Doe is pulling down on Castle's head to control his posture.
Castle slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joe Doe wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Castle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Joe Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Owen Castle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Doe has Castle up against the cage in a clinch.
Castle fails to pull guard.

Doe manages to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Owen Castle will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Castle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Doe instigates a clinch.
Doe putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Castle in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Doe drags the fight down to the ground.
Castle working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Doe's head.
Castle advances to half guard.
Doe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Castle is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Doe sees it coming and defends easily.
Castle looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Doe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Castle is taking a breather. Doe says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Doe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Castle is trying to work for a kimura but Doe is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Castle passes to full mount!
Doe is trying to escape the mount.
Owen Castle has got the better of the ground game so far.
Castle trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Doe is in all sorts of trouble here.
Castle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Doe is looking to escape.

Castle working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Doe turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Castle off and cradles Doe's limp body as Castle celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Owen Castle!
