PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Materaazzi Motta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Radajev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Motta has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Motta fails with the takedown

and Radajev counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Radajev.

Radajev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Radajev closes the distance and pushes Motta back into the cage.

Radajev tightens his grip and picks Motta up, before dumping him to the ground. Motta manages to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Radajev throws a big elbow that misses.
Radajev won't allow Motta to get back to his feet.
Motta is breathing heavily.
Radajev scoring with some ground and pound.
Radajev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Radajev thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Motta has momentary wrist control but Radajev slips an elbow through the middle.

Radajev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Radajev works over Motta with some ground and pound from guard.

Motta is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Radajev content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Oh Motta is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Radajev chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Radajev distracts Motta with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Motta trying to keep a closed guard but Radajev is proving a slippery customer.
Radajev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Radajev gets to his feet and stands over Motta, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Motta felt that one! Radajev unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Motta from any more punishment!
