Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Karl Hungus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mad Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hungus comes to the cage accompanied by Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karl Hungus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mad Dog!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog cracks a nice hook into Hungus's ribs.
Dog lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A nice combination there by Hungus.


It looks like Mad Dog has been cut.
Dog shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hungus pinned against the cage. Hungus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dog shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hungus is trying to defend but Dog finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hungus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dog is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hungus has managed to free his arm - good work.

Dog looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Nice takedown defense from Hungus. No joy for Dog on that attempt.
Hungus is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dog sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Dog has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Karl Hungus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mad Dog.
Dog shoots for a takedown but Hungus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hungus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dog to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hungus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dog defends well.

Hungus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hungus wants to get back to his feet but Dog is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Dog would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dog is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Dog drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hungus looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hungus looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hungus!

Hungus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dog, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hungus is working Dog over with some ground and pound from side control.

Dog is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Dog explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Dog tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hungus defends well and Dog ends up having to push Hungus into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dog wants to get back to striking at distance but Hungus won't allow it.

Our sources have told us that Hungus has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

Hungus digs a right hand underneath Dog's ribcage. Dog let out a lung full of air as it connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hungus gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Dog has his foot on Hungus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hungus works his way back into a safe position though.

Dog wants to sweep here but Hungus controlling him for the moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Karl Hungus will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Dog looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hungus has picked Dog up and slammed him! Dog can't keep hold of the triangle and Hungus manages to pass to side control!

Hungus is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dog gets his way!
Dog is trying to stick to Hungus's back but Hungus is turning into Dog. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Dog's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hungus.

Hungus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dog has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hungus has managed to get both his arms back between Dog's legs - danger averted.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hungus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dog is defended easily by Hungus.
Hungus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hungus wants it to stay on the feet.

Dog pushes a forearm under Hungus's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hungus is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

A very excited looking Mad Dog made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
