The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doorman with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hillman moves into the clinch.
Hillman manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Doorman throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Hillman is looking for a takedown.
Hillman tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hillman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Doorman pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Leo Doorman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronnie Hillman.
Hillman stalls.
Hillman receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Hillman blocks an elbow strike.
Stalling in the clinch from Doorman.
Doorman goes for a takedown attempt but Hillman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Doorman.
Doorman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

so Hillman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hillman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Doorman's guard.
Hillman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hillman connects with a nice short shot to Doorman's temple.
Hillman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hillman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Doorman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hillman is working away from the top position though.

Hillman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Doorman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hillman on the ground.

Hillman is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Doorman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hillman is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Hillman working for a guillotine from mount but Doorman is in no mood to give up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hillman lands a big shot there that rocks Doorman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
