PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ric Flores (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Haiyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Flores might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Napalm & Erruption- In San Francisco. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haiyes tries to clinch up but Flores circles away and keeps his distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Flores is defended easily by Haiyes.
Haiyes tries to close the distance and clinch but Flores swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Haiyes gets caught flat footed, as Flores shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Haiyes looking for a sweep. Not yet Haiyes, not yet.
Flores is fighting to break Haiyes's control of his arms but Haiyes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Haiyes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Flores is controlling him.
Haiyes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Flores.
Flores wants to control from the top but Haiyes keeps moving.

Haiyes tries to kick Flores off but Flores keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Haiyes won't allow Flores to pass to mount.
Flores winds up and cracks Haiyes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Flores landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Haiyes is looking to improve his position.
Haiyes tries to kick Flores off but Flores keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Flores lands a nice short elbow.
Flores is pressing down on Haiyes's thigh, looking to free his foot. Haiyes is holding on for now.
Flores lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Flores winds up and cracks Haiyes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Haiyes on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Flores thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Flores drops an elbow to the side of Haiyes's head.

Flores is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Flores wants to take a breather but Haiyes is having none of it.
Haiyes wants to stand back up but Flores manages to pass into side control.

Flores wants to control but Haiyes is keeping him busy.
Flores cracks Haiyes with a big right hand but Haiyes just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Flores is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Haiyes has escaped the position, nice work there.

A lull in the action here.
Flores scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Haiyes to see if he's OK.

Flores has an Americana. Haiyes didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Flores is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Flores hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
