PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Odin Raveneye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan OReily (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Odin Raveneye looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Odin Raveneye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan OReily!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for OReily, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Raveneye has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Beast farming in the buildup to the fight.
OReily lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Raveneye circles away quickly and effectively.
Raveneye fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and OReily has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
OReily darts in looking for a takedown but Raveneye gets double underhooks and turns OReily into the cage.

Raveneye manages to break the clinch.
OReily throws a right and a left that both miss.
Raveneye dodges the punch combination from OReily.
OReily throws a series of strikes that have Raveneye backpedaling.
OReily lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by OReily.
Raveneye tries to land a front kick but OReily steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
OReily throws a combination that misses
and Raveneye counters with an outside leg kick.
Raveneye connects with a leg kick. OReily looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
OReily shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Raveneye eats them both and turns towards OReily to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.
OReily throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
OReily avoids the body shot from Raveneye.
Odin Raveneye is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
OReily throws a nice looking combination but Raveneye bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
OReily will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sloppy strikes from OReily. Those never looked like landing.
OReily doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Raveneye counters with a good low kick that OReily was not able to check.
OReily falls off balance throwing a combination
and Raveneye counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps OReily thinking.
Raveneye throws a body punch but OReily moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
OReily sizes up Raveneye with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
OReily uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Raveneye.
OReily scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
OReily shoots in looking for a takedown. Raveneye tries to sprawl out of it but OReily keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Raveneye manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Odin Raveneye has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan OReily.
Raveneye digs a good body shot into OReily's ribs.

OReily gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Raveneye tries to improve position but can't.

OReily wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Raveneye, who protects the arm well.
A control attempt from Raveneye but he's now mounted!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
OReily tries to control but Raveneye wriggling away.

OReily is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Raveneye is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Raveneye flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. OReily anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Raveneye and secures both hooks! This could be bad! OReily slips an arm under Raveneye chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. OReily has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. OReily is squeezing on Raveneye like an anaconda would it's prey. Raveneye fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ryan OReily!
Ryan OReily bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
