The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacThomais tries to land a leg kick but Antunes saw it coming and moves away.
MacThomais stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and MacThomais wants it to stay on the feet.
MacThomais slaps away a takedown attempt from Antunes, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Joaquim Antunes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

MacThomais is trying to break the clinch but Antunes has him pressed against the cage.

MacThomais is fighting off a takedown attempt but Antunes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip MacThomais to the mat. MacThomais regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
MacThomais wants to hit a switch here but Antunes passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for MacThomais there!

Antunes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of MacThomais's face.

Antunes lands a big shot there that rocks MacThomais but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if MacThomais can do anything to dispel that myth.

MacThomais really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Antunes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Antunes is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and MacThomais goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Antunes!
