The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Villegas, pushing him back against the cage.
Lane is pushing Villegas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Villegas has had enough of the clinch but Lane keeps him there for the moment.
Villegas is trying to maintain a safe position but Lane gets an underhook and turns Villegas into the cage.
Lane jumps guard and drags Villegas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Villegas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Villegas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lane is on top in guard.
Lane thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Villegas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Villegas is working an open guard so Lane takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
