PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vance Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kennedy misses with a two punch combination.

Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kennedy pinned against the cage. Kennedy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Vance Kennedy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renzo Gracie.
Kennedy throws a series of strikes that have Gracie backpedaling.

Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kennedy is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Kennedy circles away and we're back to standing.

Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Kennedy sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kennedy's guard now.
Kennedy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

That was a close round but I would say that Vance Kennedy will probably get the nod.

You can see the frustration on Kennedy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kennedy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kennedy is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and Kennedy is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
