Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Mate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Santos is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Mate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Santos!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mate throws a head kick that Santos semi-blocks.
Santos avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mate forces Santos back against the cage and clinches.

Mate breaks from the clinch.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mate!
Mate misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Santos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A combination from Santos does no damage.
Mate lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Santos circles away quickly and effectively.

Mate clinches up with Santos and pushes him back against the cage.

Mate breaks the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mate throws a body punch but Santos moves out of range.
Mate misses with the combination.

Santos goes for a double leg but Mate avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mate continues to drive forward.

Santos dives in and scores a takedown into Mate's guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That was a close round but I would say that Chuck Mate will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Santos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mate walks away with a smile on his face. Santos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Santos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mate avoids it really well and circles away.

Mate moves into range and clinches up with Santos.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chuck Mate.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mate, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
