Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Derek Jackson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Hennings drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hennings passes Jackson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hennings throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hennings throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hennings is pressing down on Jackson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.
Hennings takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Shane Hennings just wasn't active enough.
Jackson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hennings manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jackson tries to pull guard but Hennings forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Hennings is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jackson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hennings avoids it.

Hennings has Jackson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hennings pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jackson tumbling to the mat - Hennings dives into Jackson's guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson is looking to escape.
Hennings takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Shane Hennings has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Hennings - that will leave a mark!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hennings avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hennings tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jackson counters with a one-two to the body.
Hennings just misses with a punch to the body.
Jackson misses with a jab, cross combination.
A clash of legs there as Jackson blocks the low kick.
Hennings finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Jackson tries to bum rush Hennings with a series of wild strikes but Hennings uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jackson gets caught napping as Hennings dives in and scores a takedown. Jackson manages to retain guard.

Hennings is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jackson!
Jackson wants to try and get back to his feet.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hennings closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hennings working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hennings would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Jackson wants to stand but Hennings is controlling the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hennings takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hennings throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Hennings moves out of range.

Hennings moves into range and clinches up with Jackson.
Jackson lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Hennings escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson throws the kick towards the body but Hennings avoids it.
Nice sprawl there from Jackson as Hennings shoots in.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hennings paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jackson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Henningss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jackson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hennings controls the pace.
Jackson is looking to stand up but Hennings isn't so interested in that idea.

Jackson thuds his right hand into Hennings's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Hennings fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Hennings persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hennings is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jackson!
Hennings takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hennings lands a big shot there that rocks Jackson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hennings has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Jackson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Derek Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson wants to slow Hennings down by chopping away at his legs.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jackson leaves Hennings with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jackson feints a jab promting Hennings to slip. Jackson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hennings slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Jackson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hennings moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hennings. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hennings slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hennings, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
