PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ludwig Mandrill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Lebow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mandrill might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Luigi's song. Josh Lebow is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ludwig Mandrill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Lebow!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandrill fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mandrill takes a kick to the side of the head.

Lebow tries to sprawl but Mandrill drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mandrill content to control rather than advance.
Mandrill is pressing down on Lebow's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lebow is holding on for now.
Mandrill throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mandrill thows a huge punch but Lebow dodges it nicely.
Lebow told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Lebow tries to roll over but Mandrill keeps him under control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lebow is trying to stand up here but Mandrill is controlling him well.
Mandrill slips a nice elbow through Lebow's hands, connecting with Lebow's forehead.

Lebow manages to get to full guard.
Lebow working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mandrill.
Lebow is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mandrill might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lebow avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lebow wants to stand but Mandrill is controlling the position.
Mandrill working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mandrill wants to control from the top but Lebow keeps moving.
Mandrill looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mandrill throws a big right hand that misses.
Mandrill postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lebow wants to stand up but Mandrill is controlling him.
Mandrill passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mandrill trying to control the action but Lebow is working from the bottom.
Mandrill creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lebow sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mandrill throwing shots but missing, from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
An elbow from Mandrill crashes against the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lebow takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Lebow takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mandrill misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Lebow trying his best to control but Mandrill has mounted him.
Mandrill prevents Lebow from getting the reversal.
Mandrill looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Lebow covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ludwig Mandrill!
After the fight, Ludwig Mandrill was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
