The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Witson slaps away a takedown attempt from Gustilo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gustilo misses with a takedown attempt - Witson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Witson lands the left hand.

Witson clinches up against the cage.
Witson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

It looks like Marvin Gustilo has been cut.
Witson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gustilo's efforts to push away.
Gustilo takes a knee right on the jaw!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Witson lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Witson is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Gustilo is breathing heavily.
Witson stops a takedown attempt from Gustilo.

Gustilo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Witson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Witson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gustilo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Gustilo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gustilo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Witson to the ground. Gustilo is now in Witson's guard.
We've been hearing that Gustilo has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Witson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Witson wants to sweep here but Gustilo controlling him for the moment.
Witson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johny Witson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Marvin Gustilo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Witson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gustilo doesn't seem bothered though.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Witson.

Gustilo tries for a takedown but Witson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Witson closes the distance and pushes Gustilo back into the cage.

Witson gets underhooks to prevent Gustilo's takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Witson manages to break the clinch.
Gustilo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Witson is looking to slow Gustilo down with leg kicks.
Witson scoring well with a low kick there.
Witson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Gustilo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Witson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Witson clinches up with Gustilo and pushes him back against the cage.

Witson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Witson cracks Gustilo with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Gustilo looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Witson finish him?

Witson lands a big uppercut and Gustilo crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Gustilo looks OK. Witson waves Gustilo back to his feet!

Gustilo is rocked!
Gustilo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Oh Gustilo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gustilo is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Witson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Witson drops Gustilo with a big knee straight up the middle! Gustilo is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Witson - that will leave a mark!
Witson is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Gustilo flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Gustilo is out cold! Witson holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
