PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mic Hael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hael comes to the cage accompanied by WISE MAN AND HIS WORDS by Wiley. Shain has chosen Thunderstruck as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mic Hael!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, M J Shain!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Hael.
Hael tries for a takedown but Shain circles away easily
and Shain counters with an inside leg kick.
Hael on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shain. Shain obviously looking to wear him down.
Hael takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hael throws a shot to the body.

Hael lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hael throws a right and a left that Shain avoids nicely.
Shain throws a hook but Hael blocks it.
M J Shain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hael shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shain's guard.

Hael slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Shain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hael doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hael manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Shain stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Shain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Hael shoots in looking for a takedown but Shain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hael's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Hael is looking to wear down Shain with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Hael stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shain wants to improve his position but Hael is controlling well.

Hael is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shain sees it coming and defends easily.

Shain is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hael is defending well though. Shain let's go of the attempt for now.

Hael swats away the attempt to clinch by Shain.

Hael throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Shain on the side of the head.

Hael remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
You can see the frustration on Shain's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hael has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Shain is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hael yanks on the arm and Shain is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hael.

In his post fight interview, Mic Hael started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
