Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Maikon Kelvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ares Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Maikon Kelvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ares Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelvin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sanchez avoids it really well and circles away.
Sanchez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kelvin defends it nicely.

Sanchez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kelvin sprawls well initially but Sanchez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sanchez is taking a breather. Kelvin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanchez has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Kelvin shoots in for a takedown but Sanchez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Let's hope that Sanchez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ares Sanchez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Sanchez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, if Sanchez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kelvin did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control.

Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Kelvin tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kelvin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sanchez is defended easily by Kelvin.
Maikon Kelvin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ares Sanchez.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sanchez is pressing down on Kelvin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kelvin is holding on for now.
Still in half guard, Sanchez seems content to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Kelvin tries to lock up and control but Sanchez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kelvin is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelvin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've been hearing good reports from Kelvin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ares Sanchez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Kelvin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sanchez tries to avoid it but Kelvin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sanchez to the ground. Sanchez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well Sanchez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
