PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cung Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norbert Schwager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Le comes into the arena with Untouchable blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwager misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Le.
Le ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Schwager falls off balance throwing a combination

and Le holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Le lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Schwager has had enough of the clinch but Le keeps him there for the moment.
Le scores with a shot to the side of Schwager's head.
Le lands an elbow just above Schwager 's eye.

It looks like Norbert Schwager has been cut.
Le lands a nice elbow.
Le utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Le working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Le drops Schwager with a big knee straight up the middle! Schwager is covering up against the ropes but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Le lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Schwager is rocked!
Le takes one to the side of the head.

Schwager doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Le thuds his shin into the meat of Schwager's side.
Schwager has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Le connects with a solid leg kick.
Le keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've been told by Le's head coaches at GTi 888 that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Schwager takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Le takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Schwager throws a right hand that Le ducks under and follows up with a left that Le also avoids with ease.
Schwager connects with a looping right hand.

The fighters circle momentarily. Schwager darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Le misses with a head kick.

and Le counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Le.
Schwager blocking some punches.
Schwager is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Le lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Le.
Le connects with a nasty looking knee right to Schwager's face.
Le lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Schwager is still on wobbly legs! Can Le finish him?
Le jerks Schwager's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Schwager drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Le goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Le because Schwager was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
