Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Van Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
Jones lands with a straight right. Simpson didn't see that one coming.

Simpson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Simpson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Simpson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jones is looking to stand up but Simpson isn't so interested in that idea.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Raphael Simpson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jones looks for a takedown but Simpson sprawls well.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Simpson.
Simpson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Simpson.

Simpson shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Simpson defends it easily.
Simpson passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Simpson has hold of Jones's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jones seems comfortable defending it but Simpson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jones is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jones is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Simpson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
