PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bad Timber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abraham Rokou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rokou tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Timber paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rokou wants to clinch up but Timber keeps it at a distance.
Timber blocks the body kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Rokou. That's going to slow Timber down.
Rokou tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Timber swivels and escapes.
Rokou throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Timber's waist but Timber gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rokou off to one side.

Timber has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rokou uses from the top position.
Rokou must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rokou really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Timber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Timber is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Timber uses his free foot to push down on Rokou's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rokou.

Timber has hold of Rokou's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rokou manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Timber has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Bad Timber has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Timber is defended easily by Rokou.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rokou enables Timber to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rokou manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Timber stays in close to Rokou's body and controls the position.
Rokou thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Rokou tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Timber wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rokou lands with a hook. Timber tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Timber shoots in looking for a takedown. Rokou tries to sprawl out of it but Timber keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rokou manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bad Timber is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rokou has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Timber avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Timber ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Timber no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Timber manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Horrible takedown by Rokou or perhaps it was just good defense by Timber which made him look bad.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rokou can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Timber, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
